CEO of BESarawak inducted into Hall of Leaders
The Events Industry Council (EIC) has recently announced its 2023 Hall of Leaders inductees, recognising a total of 150 extraordinary leaders so far for their bright talent and outstanding leadership in the meetings, conventions, exhibitions, hospitality, and travel industry.
This year, Sarawak’s own Amelia Roziman, CEO of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), along with six other prominent leaders will be inducted into EIC’s Hall of Leaders during the 2023 EIC Global Awards Celebration, which will take place on 16 October 2023 at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, USA as part of IMEX America.
Amelia Roziman has been CEO of BESarawak since 2021, leading Malaysia’s first convention bureau in Sarawak. With over 21 years of experience in branding, marketing, and PR, this Bidayuh lady has risen through the ranks thanks to her outstanding performance, creativity, vision and leadership.
Growing up from a humble background, Amelia understands the adversities faced by those from similar backgrounds, and is always grateful towards the local, national and international industry and stakeholders that have stood behind her. Amelia always strives to have an active role in making a difference to her homeland of Sarawak.
As CEO of BESarawak, she has secured numerous prestigious business events including the World Water Congress & Exhibition in 2028, has achieved remarkable success in securing international bids of key interests. In the Fiscal Year of 2022, BESarawak has secured 100 business events with a projected total economic impact of RM325.3 million, benefiting the local communities with an addition of 25,986 jobs.
Under her leadership, BESarawak promotes economic prosperity, social inclusivity and environmental sustainability by placing business events as an economic and social thrust, in line with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy as well as BESarawak’s own Legacy Impact, a motion that promotes sectoral, community and social, trade and investment, political and environmental development from business events.
BESarawak’s Tribe Legacy Sarawak campaign, which is centred around value creation and collaborations, also helped score other notable achievements including Sarawak winning three international film awards for its business events short films, the launch of the International Journal of Business Events and Legacies, 67 industry partners obtaining international event certifications and 3 Memoranda of Understanding to position Sarawak as a legacy impact destination.
Amelia will be joining six other inductees of the 2023 Hall of Leaders, including CEO of Regent Exhibitions Ltd, Carina Bauer, President and CEO of Solutions by Connell, Barbara Connell, CEO of the American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), Wanda Johnson, Enterprise Vice President of Maritz Global Events, Steve O’Malley, Managing Director of 2SYNERGIZE, Christine “Shimo” Shimasaki and Dr. Deborah Breiter-Terry of UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management
