At a Glance: ITB Asia 2022
The 15th International Travel Bureau (ITB) Asia 2022 took place on October 19 to 21, 2022 at Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre.
Much like its parent event, ITB Berlin, ITB Asia is an annual business to business (B2B) trade show and convention. The first in-person ITB Asia since the pandemic provided ample opportunities for worldwide tourism recovery, with thousands of meetings and trade talks set up throughout the three-day expo.
Organised by Messe Berlin (Singapore), supported by the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau and co-located with MICE Show Asia and Travel Tech Asia, this year’s conference brought together over 180 heavyweights in the industry, with panels, talks and conventions on travel technology, corporate travel to tourism content on TikTok and the recovery of tourism post-pandemic.
Over 450 exhibitors took part in ITB Asia, including tourism boards, travel agencies, hotel groups, tour operators, consulting services and accommodations from all over the world. While ITB Asia is mostly geared towards the Asia-Pacific region, exhibitors from Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East from every corner of the sector were in attendance, especially buyers looking to break into the Asian market.
Prominent speakers included representatives from Agoda, Michael Dykes of Expedia Group, Marriott International, Saudi Tourism Authority, Travelport and many more, including Amelia Roziman, CEO of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) and Nigel Wong from Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA).
Prominent pavilions included official partner country, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia’s own Sarawak Tourism Board, Sabah Tourism Board and Penang Global Tourism, Visit Finland, Kyrgyzstan’s Department of Tourism, Visit Maldives, Gyeonggi Tourism Organisation, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Busan Tourism Organisation, Trip.com, NEOM, Singapore Tourism Board, Visit Iceland, BWH Hotel Group, Frasers Hospitality and Sports Authority of Thailand.
Due to the massive success of 2022’s ITB Asia, dates for not only 2023, but also 2024 and 2025 have been announced (23 to 25 October 2024 and 15 to 17 October 2025). Meanwhile, early-bird registrations are already open for next year, which will take place on October 25 to 27, 2023.
